a) IPS² in Practice


The presentation was given by Gerhard Gudergan; it focused on case study based examples of IPS² and their characterization. Finally he pointed out that more cases and examples are needed to further develop a typology of IPS² applications.

b) Service Knowledge and Features


Prof. Rajkumar Roy presented two projects to identify service issues and service knowledge types. He focused on service features and the connected customer value.

c) Empirical study concerning industrial services within the Austrian machinery and plant engineering industry


Prof. Kurt Matyas provided an insight into the current Austrian situation of IPS² by presenting a detailed case study.

d) Life Cycle oriented Configuration of Industrial Product-Service Systems


Prof. Jan Aurich focused on improved customer orientation in the capital goods industry by anticipating the product life cycle and providing modular product and service structures

Report on Bochum IPS2 Conference


The collaborative research project TR29 held its first international seminar on Industrial Product-Service-Systems on 21 - 22 January 2008 in Bochum. Several interesting presentations were given from researchers and industry speakers. Furthermore fruitful discussion took place during the seminar. In the next days some pictures of the seminar as well as the list of presentations will be published on the website www.tr29.de.

Update on IPS2 Spring School


From 25-29 February 2008 a spring school on IPS² will take place in Bochum, organized by Bochum, Cranfield, Berlin and Kaiserslautern Universities. It will be reported during the next GA in Manchester. This first spring school is restricted to the organizers for testing the organization and the advantages of this platform first of all. Next year the spring school will be open for all relevant people like CIRP Research Affiliates or research assistants, PhD students of the CIRP IPS2 working group members.

Open discussion on challenges in the IPS²


Prof. Meier was the moderator. During the motivated discussion of all participants several comments on future objectives of the IPS² working group were given.

Miscellaneous


On 1-2 April 2009 the first official CIRP conference on IPS² will take place in Cranfield back to back with the CIRP Design conference. After the working group meeting Prof. Roy distributed several flyers. Please note the abstract submission deadline is 30th of May 2008.
